Artificial Nail Myths

MYTH Powdered gel.....there is no such thing as powdered gel. It is acrylic and they charge you more and put a UV polish on....ALL gel is UV cured

MYTH Solar Nails is new....no it is not it is an acrylic line that has been used for years, its is just new to the salons that Health Canada had cracked down on for using MMA acrylic.

MYTH Artificial Nails ruin your natural nail...no the product does if it's cheap, over filed or removed improperly. For instance using a nail tip to remove the artificial nail by prying it off the nail plate..ouch!
Artificial nails should be soaked or filed off. You nails are composed of layers of keratin that are stacked on top of each other like plywood and you can have several but most people have about 7. Each time your pry an artificial nail off you can take 4 or more layers off! Plus you can cause irreparable damage to the nail bed! If someone proceeds to rip your nail off in removal...leave.

MYTH Nails need to breath, so they need a break from polish/product...totally false. Nails are composed of a mixture of amino acids, minerals and a protein called keratin. It has no nerves, no blood supply, no lungs or gills. What is alive is the nail bed as to which the nail plate protects.
So it is actually healthier to leave your nails on and keep getting the filled than to take them off and put them back on again.

  • Skin on the bottom of the foot is 7 times thicker than anywhere else on the body and have 250,000 sweat glands! They lose more than a pint of the body's water a day! Therefore prone skin problems like cracked heals or athlete's foot.
