Attitude of Confidence

Attitude is the difference between ugly and beautiful. Weak or Strong. Walk with confidence and the possibilities are endless that come your way. There is a difference between arrogance and confidence. Arrogance is conceived from low self-esteem; a self perception made by a person to try and direct one into thinking that the individual in question is endowed with perfection. It actually is put there by that person to try and thwart someones attention to the misgivings that the said individual feels they have but in turn breeds nothing but contempt and rejection from people around them.

However, confidence is the opposite.  Confidence offers poise, and calculated structure. It is based on a well rounded self perception. To wear an outfit that others may deem as too risque is a great example. Walking into a room with a presence that announces "I AM HERE". It is assurance that you are comfortable with who you are and what you have to offer.

Walk into a room with the attitude that you are it. That everyone wants to be your friend. Don't do desperate activities to draw attention to yourself like laughing out loudly with a phony disposition, but rather do it by acting that you do not care whether you are noticed or not. Then you will notice people will gravitate towards you and want to talk to you. Confidence allows you to do things you want to without worrying about what others think. Confidence
makes you a leader and not a follower. I personally would rather be the leader than a follower.

Start with a new colorful shirt or a new sassy bright lipstick that is so hot this season.

Tan that is safe

Now that spring is on it's way, it directs our thoughts towards bronzed skin, shorts, skirts, tank tops, swim suits and flip flops. However, after the winter months, unless you were fortunate enough to get a beach vacation this year, there is a good chance that our skin is pale. I recommend a self tanner to bring out some color, or get an airbrushed or spray tan. The self tanner that I recommend most is Fake Bake. There are other great products on the market as well, but this one has remained tried and true to myself, as it doesn't turn you orange, it is caffeine free, and is user friendly. Some salons may also offer an airbrush tan with this product as well. You can purchase a pre-tan scrub, and a post tan oil to prolong the self tan.

The key to self tanning is exfoliation and moisturizing. This will also prevent localized darkening. If you proceed to self tan on dry and skin that is not exfoliated, the dead skin cells will slough off and the tan will go with it. So as a rule exfoliate first. Hydrated skin is healthy skin and therefore less sloughing of cells as well. A plump skin cell will hold the pigment much better and for longer. So keep your skin moist and supple. You will still have to be cautious of the palms of your hands, soles of your feet, elbows, knees, ankles and wrists. Use gloves to apply and make sure to wash your hands well. Blend lightly over knees, elbows, ankles and wrists.

Finish your look with either a shimmering bronzing lotion or powder to give that fresh sun kissed look. Place a little dab of pink or apricot blush on the apples of your cheeks. Apply a thin layer of eyeliner, mascara and of course a gloss. A light fresh and beautiful girl next door look.

I encourage you to ask questions at anytime. Happy Spring!!!

Beauty is only Skin Deep

How many times have we heard that beauty is only skin deep? I am sure it has been plenty and it is not as if we don't know this concept. However, sometimes it is difficult to see  your own beauty due to self perceptions that have either been taught to us or as a result of other's behaviors towards us. Before we can truly shine in the glory of who we are and become that diamond that we are intended to be, sometimes we have to sort through the coal to see the sparkle. There is only so much that makeup, skincare, or personal services can do for us. Sometimes we have to delve deep within our hearts to see who we are and what we have to offer. Sometimes this can be a painful process.

I encourage you to sit down with a piece of paper and write all your positive attributes. Write down everything that you love about yourself from  your personal features, to your personality traits. Often we become so obsessed with what it is we don't like about ourselves, or we have someone always telling us what they don't like about us that our own self-image becomes clouded. For every negative word or thought spoken to us whether it is from ourselves or our loved ones, it takes twenty to counteract it.

After you sit down and write all the things you love about you, read it over and set it aside to read when you are having a "hate me" day. Then do something nice for yourself, like a hot bubble bath or a pretty red nail polish on your toes.

Revived!

It has been an incredible 3 years since my last blog!!!
