SPF and moisture....SUMMERTIME SURVIVAL

As summer is in full swing, I am sure your skin had had it's share of sun exposure. A tan is a sign of over exposure, however in the world of fashion a bronzed look is described as leaner and healthier with a splash of sexy all over it. I do hope that you continue to wear sunscreen and a minimum of SPF 15!  I, too, enjoy the out doors and love the look of bronzed skin and the benefits of vit D that can only naturally occur durning sunshine enjoyment. However, as an esthetician and a woman trying to prolong the aging process, I am diligent with the sunscreen. It still produces a suntan, but eliminates the sunburn which is so dangerous. The key to proper skincare durning these months of sun exposure is not only a moisture cream of a min of 15 SPF on a daily basis, but also a broad spectrum sunscreen that filtures out UVA UVB and UVC durning times of outdoor play.

I refer to myself as the "prada wearing farmer's daughter" simply because i am a hybrid born and raised on a farm that enjoys the glam world and fast pace of the city life; yet i will remove all makeup, nail polish, glitter and heals for a makeup free face, a pair of gum boots or flip flops, and a fishing rod or tadpole hunting, and mud squishing between my toes. Understanding the skin as the largest organ in the body, and the importance to keep it healthy as well as defer aging, i have had to learn which sunscreens to use.

This is simply my opinion on the product choices that are to come. I have been using and still use coppertone, banana boat or Hawaiian tropics SPF 30 all over the body except the face for my out door play days. I find that it is too clogging of the pores. Even on other parts of the body such as decollete, shoulders and back. I switched to Biotherm SPF 30 and they also have a face broad spectrum sunscreen. However, with that being said, during times of being out in the sun it is important to do a proper exfoliation with either a manual scrub, body puff or an AHA body wash or a pH balanced wash. This will rid of dry dead skin cells, keep pores from clogging.

THE MOST IMPORTANT is moisture moisture moisture. DRINK WATER, and use ingredients such as Aloe vera, almond oil, shea butter, coconut oil, eye creams and facial moisturizers and slather it on every night. It will restore the skin and replenish its moisture. However, always pay attention to what your doctor advises and remember that wearing a hat will prevent heat stroke. Also, one still receives sun exposure in shaded areas, and especially in overcast days so it is always important to wear proper clothing and SPF products.
