Beauty is only Skin Deep

How many times have we heard that beauty is only skin deep? I am sure it has been plenty and it is not as if we don't know this concept. However, sometimes it is difficult to see  your own beauty due to self perceptions that have either been taught to us or as a result of other's behaviors towards us. Before we can truly shine in the glory of who we are and become that diamond that we are intended to be, sometimes we have to sort through the coal to see the sparkle. There is only so much that makeup, skincare, or personal services can do for us. Sometimes we have to delve deep within our hearts to see who we are and what we have to offer. Sometimes this can be a painful process.

I encourage you to sit down with a piece of paper and write all your positive attributes. Write down everything that you love about yourself from  your personal features, to your personality traits. Often we become so obsessed with what it is we don't like about ourselves, or we have someone always telling us what they don't like about us that our own self-image becomes clouded. For every negative word or thought spoken to us whether it is from ourselves or our loved ones, it takes twenty to counteract it.

After you sit down and write all the things you love about you, read it over and set it aside to read when you are having a "hate me" day. Then do something nice for yourself, like a hot bubble bath or a pretty red nail polish on your toes.
